Barcelona: We made a commitment to resign Neymar

Barcelona CEO Oscar Grau confirmed the club ‘made a strong commitment’ to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The forward netted a stunning overhead kick in the last minute as PSG won against Strasbourg, but was the target of booing and jeers from his own fans both before and after the strike, due to his apparent desire to rejoin the Camp Nou.

Grau went on to say, in fresh quotes, that the Catalan giants made offers including players but they now believe PSG never wanted to sell the player.

The Brazilian star had been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer as an exit from the French capital has appeared to be looking increasingly likely.

The former Santos forward left the Camp Nou for Paris in the summer of 2017 for a world record €222m fee, but reports continue to suggest he may be open to a departure from the Parisians.

“We made a very strong commitment to Neymar,” Grau said, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“The club did everything possible to bring Neymar with two proposals, with and without players (in exchange) but in a sustainable way, but the feeling is that the PSG never wanted to sell him.”

Neymar has continually been linked with a return to Spain since his departure with the Catalan giants and Madrid said to be keen on a future transfer.
