Celades has lost all honour by taking Valencia job – Canizares

Former Valencia goalkeeper Santi Canizares has said the club’s new Coach Albert Celades “has lost all concept of honour and ethic” by taking the role.

The new tactician turns 44 later this month and it is his first major management role after being Coach of the Spain Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 sides.

He had been working on the Real Madrid staff from August-October 2018 with Julen Lopetegui, but has been out of work since.

Los Che made the shock decision to sack Marcelino after two years in charge at the Mestalla, despite winning the Copa del Rey and recording successive finishes in the top four.

“Celades has lost all concept of honour and ethic,” Canizares told Radio Marca.

“Celades is someone who comes from training as a coach in the lower teams and had no options to go to La Liga. When you need to sign a contract and you get the opportunity to train Valencia, then you lose all concept of honour and ethics.

“Celades I think he does not know where he has been and how he will be received in the locker room. His role from the beginning will be very complicated.

“He will meet a team who are distracted and embarrassed and he will have to play Ferran Torres and Kan Lee – it will be those two plus nine others.

“Lim has said that Marcelino’s dismissal is because he does not trust the youth system, but that argument is absurd and has no sporting value, because Marcelino has well surpassed the sporting goals.

“Marcelino has fulfilled all the objectives for which he was hired. Sacking Marcelino is a tremendous outrage.”
