Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi is set for a spell on the sidelines with a broken leg
The Spanish international was injured in the 37th minute of the Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao on August 30, and the club have since confirmed he has suffered a fracture to his fibia.
Imanol Alguacil is expected to be without his club captain for at least two months, with a period of rehabilitation set to begin following an operation on September 2nd.
Illarramendi was named as La Real captain at the start of the 2018-19 season following the exit of Xabi Prieto – and the 142 appearances for the club following his return from Real Madrid in 2015.
Portu replaced Illarramendi in the 2-0 defeat at San Mames, but Alguacil is expected to reshuffle his midfield to accommodate for his skipper's absence.
