Christian Eriksen tipped for Madrid after Manchester United walk away

Manchester United have ended their interest in Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen after being quoted €87m for a bid, report The Times.

It follows a multitude of reports earlier on Wednesday that United were wary that the Denmark player would rather move to the Spanish capital this window.

It is claimed that Real Madrid were interested in the Dane last summer but the valuation of €150m meant their interest was discontinued, but now his value has dropped as he enters the final year of his contract.

Indeed, the Denmark international has once again been linked to Madrid this summer as an alternative to landing Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and then Atletico Madrid emerged in the race, as reported by Marca.

That report stated that the former Ajax player is now ‘Plan B’ at Los Rojiblancos should they fail in their pursuits to sign James Rodriguez from their cross-city rivals.

It is said that Spurs supremo Daniel Levy may allow the club to cash-in on the midfielder – who is out of contract next year – this summer, to provide funds for squad reinvestment.

The same report in The Times claims Spurs are interested in landing Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho in a loan bid.
