Joao Felix has revealed he intends to become an Atletico Madrid great and has been inspired by the club’s list of legendary strikers.
Felix, 19, became Atleti’s club record signing when he was transferred from Benfica in a €126m deal last month and has arrived among a great deal of fanfare.
A number of top class forwards have written themselves into Atleti folklore with their goalscoring exploits at the club including Sergio Aguero, Diego Forlan, Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa.
“I saw the strikers that Atletico had and they were great players, great strikers,” Felix revealed in an interview with ESPN FC.
“I want to be one more and this is why I choose to come here.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has won five Ballon d'Or trophies and this is the dream of every player. Obviously I would like to be like Cristiano.”
Felix has impressed in his early pre-season showings with Los Rojiblancos and appears to be thriving in his early training sessions with Diego Simeone’s side.
