Sevilla firm on Ever Banega release clause

Ever Banega may be allowed to depart Sevilla this summer but the club are holding out for his €20m release clause, say Marca.

Galatasaray were said to have submitted a €5m bid for the midfielder, Estadio Deportivo cite Fotomac as reporting, while Affari Di Calcio reported the player had been close to signing a three-year agreement in Istanbul.

Banega’s contract at Los Rojiblancos is up at the end of next season and it is claimed that the club will consider cashing in on him this summer, with Boca Juniors previously reported to have been frontrunners to sign him.

The 29-year-old became a key component across two campaigns at Sevilla, helping them to a further two European titles before departing for Inter in 2016.

Banega returned to the Andalusian club in the summer of 2017 following an unsuccessful season in Italy and has once again become a fundamental part of their first team.

The Rosario-native made 51 first team appearances for the Andalusian club this campaign but he celebrated his 31st birthday last month, so a move may come to fruition.
