Barcelona have lost the highly-rated teenage midfielder Xavi Simons as the 16-year-old has left the club as a free agent.
Simons is a Dutch youth international and his agent is Mino Raiola, with discussions between the Catalan giants and the club’s representatives breaking down in recent weeks.
The midfielder was part of the club’s Juvenil B side and a report from RAC1 journalist Gerard Romero claims the player is now likely to join Paris Saint-Germain.
“I leave a part of me in Barcelona and I will bring a part of Barcelona with me,” Simons wrote on Twitter this morning in a farewell statement.
Simons is the latest in a long line of talented Barcelona youth players to leave the club as a teenager.
