Niko Kovac rejects Bayern Munich interest in Gareth Bale

Bayern Munich will not bid for Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, according to manager Niko Kovac.

The Croatian manager confirmed that the Bundesliga giants will not be making a move for the Welsh international, despite reports in Spain linking them with a move for the 30-year old.

"No, we are not interested in Gareth Bale.

"He (Bale) is a very good player, however we are not interested in bringing him to Bayern.

"I am sure he will have options of where to play if he chooses to leave Real Madrid.

"There are no many good players in the market, and we are looking at our options ahead of the new season."

Bale has been consistently linked with an exit from Real Madrid following the Frenchman's return to the club in March, however the former Tottenham player has stated his commitment to stay in the Spanish capital, where he is under contract until 2022.

Bayern are expected to make at least one more signing before the start of the season, following the retirements of club legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery at the end of the 2018-19 season.

They have been linked with Manchester City's Leroy Sane, FC Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele and Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid, however no bids have been made at this stage.

The German side have spent over €100m in defensive reinforcements however, with Lucas Hernandez joining from Atletico Madrid, and Benjamin Pavard signing from VfB Stuttgart.
