New FC Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong has spoken of his pride at being compared to Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.
The 22-year old, who agreed a €75m deal to join the La Liga champions from Ajax in January 2019, has been speaking ahead of his debut season in Catalonia.
"Cruyff was something incomparable in football, the midfielder told Mundo Deportivo.
"He was unique as a player and as a coach and he changed football.
"Of course I am proud to be compared to him, but he was a legend, and I am just starting my career."
De Jong is expected to go straight into the FC Barcleona starting line up for the new La Liga season, despite being coy over his chances of a starting role with Ernesto Valverde's side.
"I know there are many great players here and that I will have to work hard.
"For me, Lionel Messi is the best here and in world football.
"He has been my footballing idol from childhood."
The Dutch international was also asked about the potential return of Brazilian forward Neymar, to the club, and he stated it would be delighted if he was to come back.
