Done deal: Sevilla sign Galatasaray midfielder Fernando

Sevilla have completed the signing of Galatasaray midfielder Fernando in a €4m deal, the club have confirmed.

The Brazilian midfielder had been in the final year of his contract at the Turkish giants and he is said by the report to be the ‘number one option’ for Los Rojiblancos, who were aiming to land a deep-lying midfielder.

The midfielder celebrates his 32nd birthday later this month and he has penned a three year contract at the Andalusian club.

This is the latest move in the shake-up of the first-team squad at the Andalusian club with Monchi returning as sporting director and Julen Lopetegui now in the dugout.

Sevilla have already made a host of signings this summer with Mannus Dabbur, Diego Carlos, Jules Kunde, Luuk de Jong, Joan Jordan and Lucas Ocampos already signed, with Fernando now confirmed as the eighth arrival.

Roque Mesa, who made 31 La Liga appearances for Los Rojiblancos last season after making his loan move from Swansea City permanent last summer, may move to the Turkish club in a separate operation.

“The reality is that I am one of the transferable players here,” Mesa acknowledged in an interview in La Provincia, as cited by Marca.

Fernando previously played for Porto and Manchester City prior to his 2017 move to Istanbul.
