Valencia defender Jeison Murillo poised for Sampdoria

Valencia defender Jeison Murillo is set to join Italian club Sampdoria on a loan deal with a compulsory option to buy, report Marca.

Murillo was signed by Barcelona in a temporary deal in January to provide cover due to Samuel Umtiti’s but ultimately played just 293 minutes for the club, divided across four games.

However, the Blaugrana did not decide to purchase the Colombian on a permanent basis and he returned to the Mestalla at the start of July.

Now it appears that he will join the Genoa-based club in a deal which includes the compulsory purchase option of €13m, meaning that Los Che will recuperate their outlay on him from two years ago.

Murillo had featured in just 18 La Liga games for Valencia since his transfer from Inter in the summer of 2017 and was viewed as being surplus to requirement at the Mestalla.

Prior to his short stint at the Milanese giants, Murillo had played in Spain for Las Palmas, Cadiz and Granada, but now appears to be on the verge of a return to Italy.
