AS Roma improve offer for Pau Lopez

Serie A side AS Roma are close to completing a move for Real Betis' Pau Lopez.

Paulo Fonseca is reported to be on the verge of securing Lopez's signature, after increasing their offer to €22m for the goalkeeper.

Real Betis had opened to hold on for Lopez's full release clause of €30, however according to reports in Marca, they have reached a compromise with the Italian side.

Fonseca has agreed to surrender the club's remaining 50% stake in the economic rights to Real Betis midfielder Antonio Sanabria following his 2016 move to the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

As part of the deal which saw him swap Serie A for La Liga three years ago, Real Betis agreed to a part-ownership of Sanabria and his future potential sell on value – however AS Roma are now reportedly willing to give up that deal in order to secure the signing of Lopez.

The deal is not yet complete, despite Lopez reportedly already heading to Italy to negotiate personal terms, and Real Betis could try and push for an increase of €2m in their asking price.
