Sky Italia: Matthijs De Ligt set for Juventus switch

Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt has rejected a move to FC Barcelona, to sign for Serie A champions Juventus.

Sky Italia are reporting that the 19-year old has finally decided where his future lies, after confirming his exit from the Dutch side at the end of the 2018-19 season, with Turin his preferred destination.

La Liga champions FC Barcelona had looked to be the front runners to sign the Netherlands international, however his fine form at the end of the season alerted Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Maurizio Sarri's new side.

The Catalan side are reported to have offered in the region of €70m for De Ligt, but Juventus' deal is set to be €62m up front, with an estimated €10m in add ons. 

De Ligt, who has consistently stated that he will make a decision on where he will be playing next season, when he returns from holiday, revealed that he was approached by Cristiano Ronaldo after the UEFA Euro Nations League final – with the Portuguese star asking him to move to Italy.
