Real Madrid prepared to wait on Paul Pogba

Real Madrid are willing to wait and test the resolve of Manchester United over Paul Pogba, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The report claims ‘the operation looks set to last until the end of August’ with Madrid first intent on selling a number of first-team squad players in order to free up the funds to commit to a serious bid.

This conflicts with a report in Marca this week which claimed Madrid are not prepared to get drawn into a ‘circus’ regarding a potential transfer and had set a deadline of 1 July for negotiations to begin.

The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos this summer, however the Spanish giants are said to be unwilling to pay the €150m asking price.

Over the weekend, the player dropped his biggest hint yet that he was going to exit the English club: “With everything that has happened (at United), I think it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

“I am already thinking about this and what a new challenge could be.”

Pogba reportedly remains Zinedine Zidane's primary transfer target this summer and despite Madrid already spending over €300m on new players they are said to be plotting a €120m move.

The Frenchman and his agent Mino Raiola have indicated that he wants to leave Old Trafford following a disappointing campaign and he is said to be willing to take a wage cut to seal a move to the Spanish capital.
