Real Madrid want Manchester United’s Paul Pogba by 1 July

Real Madrid have set a deadline of 1 July to sign midfielder Paul Pogba from Manchester United, according to a report in Marca.

This is the date which Madrid players are set to return to pre-season training and it is claimed they are not prepared to get drawn into a ‘circus’ regarding a potential transfer.

The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos this summer, however the Spanish giants are said to be unwilling to pay the €150m asking price.

Over the weekend, the player dropped his biggest hint yet that he was going to exit the English club: “With everything that has happened (at United), I think it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

“I am already thinking about this and what a new challenge could be.”

Pogba reportedly remains Zinedine Zidane's primary transfer target this summer and despite Madrid already spending over €300m on new players they are said to be plotting a €120m move.

The Frenchman and his agent Mino Raiola have indicated that he wants to leave Old Trafford following a disappointing campaign and he is said to be willing to take a wage cut to seal a move to the Spanish capital.
