Quique Setien linked with Shakhtar Donetsk job

Former Real Betis boss Quique Setien has been linked with the vacant post at Ukrainian side Shakthar Donetsk.

According to reports in Portuguese newspaper A Bola, via Mundo Deportivo, the 60-year old is on the shortlist to replace departing manager Paulo Fonseca, who has joined Serie A giants AS Roma.

Fonseca's move to Italy was confirmed at the end of May, taking over from caretaker boss Claudio Ranieri, who succeeded Eusebio Di Francesco in March 2019.

Setien, whose exit from the Estadio Benito Villamarin was confirmed on the final day of the 2018-19 La Liga season, has not confirmed whether or not he will take up another post – stating that a decision will be made when he returns from holiday later this month.

Shakhtar have been the dominant force in Ukrainian football for over a decade, winning eight of the last ten league titles, with 12 since the turn of the century for the club.
