Future Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has posted a video to Ajax fans ahead of his departure: “It was an honour to play for this fantastic club.”
The Dutch international will join the Blaugrana in an €86m deal from Ajax this summer after prolonged speculation regarding his future.
“From the first day I entered, I felt at home thanks to the lovely people who work here and make this club special,” de Jong explained in a video to the club’s fans, as reported by Marca.
“These are people who think about football and how it should be played, the quality of the staff and the players I was allowed to play with and work alongside which was amazing.
“Every day I came to the club with a great enthusiasm and I want to I would like to thank all those who work at Ajax, you were great!
“During the European nights there was a great atmosphere that I will never forget. This season, we conquered Europe, won the cup and the 34th national title.
“It was an honour to play for this fantastic club, thanks AFC Ajax.”
