Sky Sports: Manchester United withdraw from De Ligt race

Manchester United will not be making a move for FC Barcelona target Matthijs De Ligt this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The Red Devils had been rumoured to be considering hijacking the La Liga champions move for the Ajax skipper, however they have no decided to withdraw their interest in the 19-year old defender.

FC Barcelona remain favourites to sign De Ligt, who has enjoyed a fine season with Ajax, winning the Eredivisie title and reaching the Champions League semi finals.

La Blaugrana have already agreed a deal to bring his Ajax team mate Frenkie De Jong to the Camp Nou, and are reported to be ready to launch a €75m bid for De Ligt in the coming weeks.

However, Ernesto Valverde's side are not the only team interested in signing the Dutch international, with Juventus and Bayern Munich also keeping a close eye on the situation.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has already stated that he expects De Ligt to move on this summer, with a move to either Bavaria or Catalonia his likely destination.
