Sevilla confident on Pablo Sarabia stay

Sevilla sporting director Monchi is confident midfielder Pablo Sarabia will remain at the club despite entering the final 12 months of his contract.

The 26-year-old netted 22 goals and provided 16 assists this season for the Andalusian club and has been a model of consistency since joining from Getafe in a €1m deal back in 2016.

The player, who has an €18m release clause, has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, who are under a transfer ban, and Italian club Roma.

“We are negotiating at a more advanced stage than 15 days ago,” Monchi told an interview with Marca when questioned on the midfielder.

“I think it should not take long for the resolution of the issue, because there is not much left to discuss and by nature I am positive because I know that Pablo wants to stay in Seville.

“Ever Banega and Boca? I have not talked to him about this and I have not been called by anyone from Boca…Banega is a player of Sevilla

“He has one more year of contract. I have to see if he is comfortable here and, if there is not any doubt, I do not see any solution other than to continue here.

“Wissam Ben Yedder? I do not predict movements but the market has only just begun, let's calmly analyse the Wissam issue.

“If, in the end, a club pay the Ben Yedder clause, we will have to go to the market to search for a replacement.

“Transfers? Yes, there are things that are progressing and nuanced which are waiting for the final starting signal once the continuity of Joaquin or the arrival of a new Coach.”
