Mariano Diaz: I want to stay at Real Madrid

Mariano Diaz is determined to stay at Real Madrid next season, despite widespread speculation linking him with a move away form the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The Dominican Republic international has been massively under used this season by all three Real Madrid managers, after returning from a successful loan at Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2017-18.

Zinedine Zidane has started him in the last two La Liga games, potentially to put him the shop window for other clubs, but he responded with two goals in the 3-2 win over Villarreal.

"I am very pleased to win at home and even more so to score two goals in front of the fans.

"I am really happy with how the squad and the supporters have welcomed me back to the club.

"I do not have a crystal ball for these things, but I would like to stay here."

Zidane is set to overhaul his squad this summer, and despite Mariano's end of season performances, he is still likely to be one of the names on Zidane's exit list in the coming weeks.
