Marca: Real Madrid keen on Donny Von de Beek as Pogba alternative

Real Madrid could turn their attentions to Ajax's midfielder Donny Von de Beek if they fail in their attempts to lure Paul Pogba to La Liga – according to reports in Marca this morning.

Zinedine Zidane has not hidden his admiration for the French international when questioned about a potential transfer this summer, however a move for the Manchester United man is not without complications.

Firstly, the Premier League champions will demand in excess of €100m for the 26-year old, as they seek to turn a profit on their original purchase back in 2016, and also his wages demands could cause issue within the squad.

Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos are the highest earners at the club, but Pogba's salary would put him over them both if he were to join.

Von de Beek has been heavily linked with an exit from Ajax, alongside team mates Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs De Ligt, following their march to the Champions League semi finals this season.

However, Real Madrid could face competition for his signature, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain also keen on the Dutch international – but at €60m he would represent a cheaper and more long term option than Pogba.
