Jorge Valdano: Paul Pogba would bring goals but not style to Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid manager Jorge Valdano believes Paul Pogba would bring goals but would not improve the team’s style of play.

The 26-year-old is said to be disillusioned with life at Manchester United and Diario AS  say he has told several teammates that he is hopeful of a change of club, with the outgoing European champions alerted over the situation.

“Pogba would bring goals, even if he doesn’t add to the style of play,” Valdano told Onda Cero.

“He is more of a goal scorer than any of Madrid’s current midfielders but (the problem is) the team is individuals, they do not go to war together but on their own.

“Without Benzema there is no threat and the team fall into the abyss.”

The France international is said to be keen to complete the deal as soon as possible so that the deal does not become a saga, as his move to United from Juve in 2016 became.

He is said to be unhappy with not being the top earner at Old Trafford following the deal concluded for Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal last year.

Previous reports in Spain claimed Pogba has a strong desire to win the Ballon d’Or and this would be out of his reach whilst still playing at Old Trafford.

The midfielder returned to United in the summer of 2016 from the Bianconeri in a €95m deal, which was then a world record.
