Ilaix Moriba signs long-term Barcelona contract

Highly-rated Barcelona academy player Ilaix Moriba Kourouma has penned a new long-term deal at the Catalan giants.

The midfielder is one of La Masia’s brightest prospects and has put in a series of star appearances this year, including a hat-trick against Real Madrid's Juvenil B team in August.

The Guinea-born player most commonly plays in a playmaker role for Barca’s youth sides and has previously been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus.

He had been free to join other clubs after celebrating his 16th birthday on 19 January and clubs had reportedly been speaking to the player and his family, although he has now penned a new three-year deal at the Camp Nou.

Diario AS say the youngster is set to earn €2m per year at the club with his agent Jonathan Barnett – who also represents Gareth Bale – also set for a financial windfall.
