Solskjaer: “No reason for Paul Pogba to leave Manchester United”

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant that Paul Pogba will remain at the club next season despite links to Real Madrid.

The French midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Los Blancos but the Norwegian remains confident on his future, as he spoke ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

“I cannot see him not playing for Manchester United next season, he is a player for us now and will continue to be so,” Solskjaer told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“Paul's job is to be the creator, and when we win the ball he has to drive forward, so I hope he does that well.

“The two teams both carry goal threats, but there are defenders there who are absolutely quality. We know we have to defend well against them to stand a chance.

“We've given ourselves a great chance in the league. I wouldn't say winning the Champions League is easier than finishing top four and we're not that far off the top four now.

“The Champions League throws up so many strange results and last year Barca were 4-1 up but then loss 3-0 to Roma. Nothing's going to be decided before the Camp Nou. We just want a great result to take there with us.

“I can feel the tension, the excitement. The players really want to play. It felt a bit different before PSG, but we learned from that PSG game. Players have tricks up their sleeves but we can be wise to that.

“We weren't lucky with the ref against PSG when they should have had a man sent off. Hopefully we'll get that bit of luck there as well.

“Alexis Sanchez? He's done lots of recovery work and is injury free. He'll be in the squad for West Ham on Saturday but won't be playing tomorrow.”
