Madrid derby for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both want to sign Ajax full-back Nicolas Tagliafico while Arsenal are also in for the player, report El Mundo Deportivo.

Both Madrid clubs have uncertain futures with their full-backs – Marcelo has long been linked with a move away from Los Blancos while at Atleti, Filipe Luis and Lucas Hernandez may both be leaving this summer.

Arsenal are said to also be keen on a move for the Argentine, who is valued at €20m, as they are seeking a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Nacho Monreal.

“It’s said that Tagliafico’s name has been included on Real Madrid’s shortlist because Marcelo will join Juventus,” Tagliafico’s agent Ricardo Schlieper told Radio Rivadavia last month.

“However, no-one’s called me yet, even if there have been enquiries from other teams. He has two years left on his contract and he has no release clause, but Ajax have set a minimum price for the top European clubs.

“Which teams are they? All I can say is that among them, there’s a big Spanish club. That said, I think it’s the right time for Tagliafico to step up a level.”

Tagliafico, 26, joined Ajax from Independiente a year ago.
