Dani Ceballos insists on good relationship with Zinedine Zidane

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has explained Zinedine Zidane’s return as club Coach “is a positive” for the club.

The midfielder joined Madrid from Real Betis for €16m but started just four times in La Liga and not at all in the Champions League under the Frenchman.

The 22-year-old has been more heavily involved for Madrid this season, making 30 appearances but also not a regular in the starting line-up, behind Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

“Zidane’s return is a positive for Real Madrid,” Ceballos told Cadena Ser radio.

“He always had conversations with me and he has told me since his return that he has been watching my performances and he has liked them.

“He has given me confidence, he told me that we would reevaluate things in the summer but that I would be given opportunities here under him.

“We all know we have not see the best version of me at Madrid yet, and I need to show that before the end of the season and succeed at this club.

“I see someone like Vinicius who struggled for form at the start of the season but is now one of the highlights of the campaign.”
