Real Madrid have given up their interest in signing Tottenham playmaker Christian Erisken this summer, report Diario AS.
The Denmark international was said to be on the shortlist of both Barcelona and Madrid while his contract at the North London club now has less than 18 months left to run.
However, the European champions are now set to hand Luka Modric a new contract while they ‘have full trust in’ Dani Ceballos fulfilling a similar role to Eriksen.
Last month, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino told reporters in relation to the former Ajax player: “He is happy here, he is showing his commitment.
“Then, what is going to happen between him and the club is not only in our hands.”
The understanding between Modric and Ceballos is said to be key in the club’s thinking to end their pursuit of Eriksen.
