Two goals from Karim Benzema sealed a 3-1 win for Real Madrid in their Copa del Rey quarter final win away at Girona, and moved him up to sixth on their list of all time top scorers – with 209 goals.
Already leading 4-2 from the first leg, Real were strong favourites to progress through to the last four, and Benzema eased any potential nerves for the visitors on 27 minutes, curling home from inside the area.
The Frenchman put the tie beyond any doubt on the stroke of half time, latching onto a loose ball, and firing home from close range.
Girona did pull one back in the second half, through midfielder Pedro Porro, but Real produced a third goal of the night, and seventh of the tie, as Marcos Llorente stroked home an effort from 25 yards.
The draw for the semi final takes place later today, with Real facing one of Valencia, Real Betis or Barcelona.
