Karim Benzema is now the sixth highest goalscorer in the history of Real Madrid, after his brace against Girona moved him ahead of club hero Hugo Sanchez.
Benzema's two goals against the Catalan side sealed Real's progress into the semi finals, but his 208th and 209th goals were history makers for the French international.
He has been outstanding in front of goal in recent weeks, although he will have to wait a while before moving any higher up the club goal scoring ladder with the legendary Ferenc Puskas in fifth place, on 242 goals for Real.
Santillana is fourth with 290, Alfredo di Stefano is third with 308, with modern legend Raul Gonzalez in second place, with 323 club goals.
The man at the top – Cristiano Ronaldo – may never be surpassed, with an incredible tally of 451 in the white of Real Madrid.
