Real Madrid have confirmed forward Karim Benzema suffered a fractured finger in Sunday night’s victory at Real Betis.
The French forward was withdrawn at half-time having appeared to land awkwardly on his hand, with the finger in question at an unnatural angle.
“After the tests carried out on our player Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture in the phalanx of the fifth finger of his right hand,” read a Madrid statement.
“The player’s situation will continue to be monitored.”
Benzema looks set to join a growing injury list at Los Blancos with Thibaut Courtois, Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Marcos Llorente and Toni Kroos among the absentees.
