Marcelo ‘admits poor form’ to his Real Madrid teammates

Real Madrid held a lengthy squad meeting on Monday in which full-back and vice-captain Marcelo admitted his personal form was not good enough, say reports.

The 30-year-old defender has suffered various problems with both his form and fitness this campaign – with thigh and hamstring issues disrupting his run in the team.

The Brazilian was once again notably below-par in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad and Diario AS cite a report from Spanish TV station La Sexta that he ‘fronted up’ to his teammates.

The report claims the meeting was jointly-led by Coach Santiago Solari and captain Sergio Ramos, while Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Karim Benzema were also prominent speakers.

Madrid lie 10 points off Barcelona at the top of La Liga and face Leganes in the Copa del Rey this week ahead of a weekend trip to Real Betis.
