Juventus want James Rodriguez from Real Madrid

Juventus are the front-runners to sign playmaker James Rodriguez on a permanent deal this summer, according to reports.

The Colombian is currently entering the final six months of a loan spell at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid, while the German side reportedly hold a €35m option to sign him permanently.

However, it is unclear if this option will be exercised by the Bundesliga champions while Juve hold the greatest interest in the player, Diario AS report via Tuttosport.

The Old Lady’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is set to hold talks with the midfielder’s agent Jorge Mendes at an event in Dubai, where the possibility of a transfer will be discussed.

The creative midfielder joined Bayern in the summer of 2017 on a two-year loan deal from Madrid but reports suggested he had fallen out of favour under new boss Niko Kovac.

The 27-year-old has recently suffered an ankle ligament injury which is likely to keep him out of action for at least a month, meaning he is recovering currently in the Spanish capital.

Due to the emergence of Isco and Marco Asensio, James it is perhaps unlikely that James would find a starting spot back at the Bernabeu.

The former Porto and Monaco star spent three seasons at Los Blancos, helping them to two European titles, but started just 13 La Liga games in his final campaign.
