Marcelino: ‘Valencia changing Coach does not work’

Valencia boss Marcelino Garcia Toral has warned the club that changing the Coach following a run of bad results does not ‘change the results’.

Despite guiding the club to a fourth-place finish last season they have struggled this time out with Sunday’s win over Huesca just their fourth victory in 17 attempts.

“You can see in the history that changing the Coach does not change results on the pitch,” Marcelino told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“Any decision made by the club regarding me and my staff is something that we will have to accept but maybe when you look at Valencia over the years the problem is not the Coach.

“One goal in injury time should not change any decision because we are the same regardless of the result but we are a team who are not broken.

“We have only lost three matches in the league this season and we are better than our league position has suggested, because we are highly competitive.

“It was enjoyable to win the game because this always makes us happy and we should have won by more, but we were not effective in front of goal.

“The fans displeasure? I understand they want to express their feelings, we want to reverse it.”
