Ander Herrera set to extend Manchester United stay

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is set to extend his stay at the club after contract negotiations, reports ESPN FC.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford next summer, meaning that he is theoretically available to a number of clubs on a free transfer from January.

However, this fresh report states the former Real Zaragoza and Athletic Club Bilbao is set to extend his stay at Old Trafford with terms expected to be agreed this calendar year.

Atletico Madrid and Athletic Club Bilbao have both been linked to the combative central midfielder, alongside Italian side Roma.

United are also reported to be in talks with Spanish duo Juan Mata and David De Gea along with Ashley Young and Anthony Martial on new deals.

Herrera joined United in 2014 in a €30m deal and has made 172 appearances to date for the club, scoring 18 goals.
