The father of in-demand Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong believes Barcelona ‘would be the best destination’ for his son next summer.
The 21-year-old – who has won five caps for The Netherlands and has made 63 first-team appearances for Ajax – denied that he had an agreement in place with Paris Saint-Germain.
“The decision is Frenkie’s, he is very smart and very aware, and will wait until the spring to make his choice,”
“My belief is that he will leave Ajax next summer, maybe there is a 95% chance of that happening.
“My opinion is that Barcelona would be his best destination.”
De Jong is said to have been a prime transfer target for both Barca and Manchester City, although the Parc des Princes was reported by De Telegraaf last week to be his favoured destination.
