Atletico Madrid duo Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez are trying to convince Uruguayan teammate Maxi Gomez to join them in the Spanish capital.
The Celta Vigo striker is said to have a release clause of €50m at Balaidos with a report in Marca stating Atleti were targeting him in the January window.
The same report stated Atleti must sell before they can buy because they are at the limit of their wage budget, but this has not slowed their pursuit of Gomez.
Los Rojiblancos are said to have already met their target of €293m spend on wages meaning that players need to leave before others can come in.
Gomez has hit 25 La Liga goals in 46 starts since joining from Defensor Sporting in 2017, including eight strikes this season.
The same outlet has reported on the striker’s international teammates, who both star for Atleti, attempting to convince Gomez that his future lies at the Wanda Metropolitano.
