Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal recently dined with Ajax defender and reported transfer target Matthijs de Ligt, claim Catalunya Radio.
Diario Sport carry the report and suggest this is the latest instalment of the Blaugrana’s courting of the defender and they believe this may be the ‘final offensive’ in order to persuade the player.
The in-demand Dutch defender is said to be not only wanted by Barca but a number of top European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Inter and Roma.
The 19-year-old has already won international recognition with the Netherlands, capped 13 times, and has made 84 first-team appearances for the Dutch giants.
The report also states Abidal has spoken directly with de Ligt over telephone and are keen to address their defensive issues – having shipped 19 goals in 13 matches.
