Bayern Munich playmaker James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez ‘wants to stay at Real Madrid’

James Rodriguez is entirely intent on leaving Bayern Munich with his preference to return to Real Madrid, say Diario AS.

The creative midfielder joined Bayern in the summer of 2017 on a two-year loan deal from Madrid but has fallen out of favour under new boss Niko Kovac.

Bayern also possess a €35m option to buy the playmaker at the end of his current spell but the player himself has no intention of staying with the Bundesliga champions.

The 27-year-old has recently suffered an ankle ligament injury which is likely to keep him out of action for at least a month, meaning he is recovering currently in the Spanish capital.

Due to the emergence of Isco and Marco Asensio, James it is perhaps unlikely that James would find a starting spot back at the Bernabeu.

The former Porto and Monaco star spent three seasons at Los Blancos, helping them to two European titles, but started just 13 La Liga games in his final campaign.
