Antonio Conte further away from Real Madrid?

Antonio Conte seems to have moved further away from Real Madrid after reportedly refusing an out-of-court settlement with Chelsea.

Conte was sacked by Chelsea over the summer but did not receive his final year’s salary, with the Blues citing just cause on the grounds of his treatment of Diego Costa and criticism of the board.

According to Sky Sports News, a meeting was proposed to negotiate the termination of his contract without court involvement, but the former Juventus and Italy Coach declined.

Instead, his lawyers are working on one case for an employment tribunal and one for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Furthermore, the 49-year-old is seeking damages on top of his final year’s salary, taking his total claim to around €26m.

It comes after Conte was thought to be rushing through with a settlement so he could become Madrid’s next permanent Coach.
