Lionel Messi return ‘makes Barcelona happy’ – Sergi Roberto

Versatile Barcelona player Sergi Roberto is happy to have ‘best in the world’ Lionel Messi back available for the team.

The Argentine star has returned to the first-team Barca squad for their clash at Inter on Tuesday evening after a fortnight out, but is expected to start on the bench.

“He’s happy to start playing again, even if they haven’t given him clearance,” Roberto said in the pre-match press conference.

“It’s always nice to have him here with us. After his injury we were worried because he’s the best in the world and of course he influences us, but we also won without him.

“His absence reinforced the team, we played great games in which every player made progress.

“We’re all here to help each other, without Leo we’re not as a strong as with him, now we’re happy he’s recovered. Now we’re happy to re-establish the team dynamics with Leo.

“We know that with a win we’ll finish first in the group, and we want to stay at the top.

“Obviously it’s important to win and secure top spot, but these are difficult matches. If we win tomorrow we’re calm, it’s a game like any other even if it’s an important one.

“In the first game we knew they’d want to keep the ball and play out from the back, so we pressed them high and we’ll try to do that tomorrow too. We’ll try to take possession away from them.

“Mauro Icardi? We lived together for a year, and the thing I remember most was that there was this iguana in a glass tank. I wish him the best.”
