Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto has revealed how Luis Suarez had joked with him about assists before Sunday’s El Clasico.
The Uruguayan netted a hat-trick on Sunday over Real Madrid with Roberto playing a big part in two of the goals and has now assisted the striker in five of his nine strikes in the fixture.
“We were watching old footage before the game and he asked why I did not provide him with assists anymore,” Roberto told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“So today I have assisted him twice and he cannot complain! Although it is true that one of those went to Jordi Alba.
“I wanted the game to continue on and not to stop, because to get a result like this in El Clasico is an incredible feeling.
“It shows the confidence we now have and it is even more special because it was achieved without our best player, and we hope Leo is now recovering.
“We were dominant throughout the game apart from a small spell at the start of the second half.”
