Karim Benzema tells France: “Leave me alone, please”

Karim Benzema has told French Football Federation Noel Le Graet to ‘leave him alone’ after comments that the striker was ‘finished’ with France.

The Real Madrid striker has netted 27 goals in 81 international caps for Les Bleus but has not been included in a squad since 2015 due to a publicised blackmail case.

“The case is still not over,” Le Graet said to Ouest-France, as cited by Diario AS.

“This has now been ongoing for three or four years, we are frustrated it has not been decided upon quicker and this has damaged us.

“Karim always performed well with us (France) but he is finished with the team now and he has not been in form for a long time.”

In a response on his Twitter account, Benzema addressed Le Graet directly: “I ask you to leave me alone. France are the champions of the world and the rest is irrelevant. Thank you.”
