Real Madrid confirm Karim Benzema hamstring injury

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema is set to miss a fortnight of action after sustaining a hamstring injury, the club have confirmed.

The 30-year-old has netted five goals this season but has subsequently lost his goalscoring touch and is without a goal in his last seven matches.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Karim Benzema by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with an injury to his right hamstring,” read a Madrid statement.

No timespan has been given in regards to the Frenchman’s return, although a hamstring injury typically takes two weeks to recover.

Benzema joins a growing injury list of Marcelo, Isco and Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu, but is expected to return in a fortnight for the clash against Levante.
