Real Madrid have given Julen Lopetegui until the end of October to turn around the club’s fortunes, say multiple reports around Spain.
All three of Marca, Diario AS and El Mundo Deportivo led their Monday editions with news that the former Spain boss would not be sacked ahead of his side’s clash with Barcelona on 28 October.
Lopetegui will thus still be in the dugout for the home La Liga clash with Levante and Champions League home game against Czech side Viktoria Plzen ahead of the trip to the Camp Nou.
Madrid are without a goal in four games and have lost three times in that run, including Saturday night’s 1-0 defeat at Alaves.
The reports indicate confidence in Lopetegui is ‘very low’ but the club are not willing to pull the trigger on his tenure until after his next run of fixtures.
