Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and Santiago Solari are on Real Madrid’s shortlist to replace the under-fire Julen Lopetegui, claim reports.
A report in Diario AS states Conte is ‘the only top Coach without a team’ while current Madrid B team Coach and former winger Solari is also being considered.
The report, which also claims Lopetegui will be given until the end of October to sort out Madrid’s mess, does warn that Conte’s appointment ‘may lead to a clash of egos’.
The European champions have gone four matches without a goal and have collected just one point from their last three La Liga outings.
There are suggestions too that Chelsea would need to be paid compensation should Conte be appointed elsewhere before next summer as he is still being paid by the West London club.
Solari, 41, has been in charge of the club’s Castilla team since 2016 where he replaced Zinedine Zidane in 2016.
