Keylor Navas links Cristiano Ronaldo exit on Real Madrid goal drought

Keylor Navas has lamented Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Real Madrid and linked it to the current lack of goals: “You cannot cover the sun with a finger.”

Madrid’s defeat in CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night as Julen Lopetegui’s side went three matches without scoring a goal for the first time since 2007 – before record-scorer Ronaldo joined.

“Cristiano left a very high bar at Real Madrid,” Navas told reporters, as cited by Cadena Cope.

“You cannot cover the sun with a finger…he scored a lot of goals while he was at the club, but it is already in the past and we cannot live in the past.”

Navas also focused on the defeat in Moscow: “We are sad because they had one chance and they took it, we did not recover on the scoreboard.

“We created many fantastic opportunities, but we could not score a goal despite this and we believe that we were unlucky.

“We want to start scoring again in the games coming up.”
