Antoine Griezmann brace fires Atletico Madrid past Club Brugge

Antoine Griezmann scored a brace as Atletico Madrid comfortably dispatched Club Brugge 3-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Atleti were unbeaten in four games going into their visit of Club Brugge, and Griezmann gave them the lead when he finished off Thomas Lemar’s cross at the far post.

However, out of nowhere, Arnaut Groeneveld Danjuma drove home an unstoppable effort across Jan Oblak from 25 yards out to draw the Belgians level.

Nonetheless, Los Colchoneros were back ahead on the hour mark, Diego Costa returning Griezmann’s through ball and the Frenchman poking past former Real Madrid target Karlo Letica.

Victory was sealed with the last kick of the game through Koke, who tapped in from the No 7’s cutback at the left-hand byline.

Atleti are now six points clear of Monaco and Club Brugge in Group A, although Borussia Dortmund take top spot on goal difference.
