Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois confessed it was ‘special’ for him to face Atletico Madrid and insisted he could play out with his feet.
The Belgian shot-stopper starred for the hosts – saving one-on-one chances from Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa – whilst also answered questions about his ability to play out from the back.
“I have many friends at Atletico and happy memories from there, it was special playing them,” Courtois told Belgofut, as cited by Diario AS.
“My playing style? I can play with my feet and go out from the back, maybe that is not my main strength but I can do it for sure.
“You could see it in the game, I passed out to Varane when Nikola Kalinic was closing me down – I can handle that sort of pressure and not rush the clearance.
“Sometimes I can make an error with my feet, but it is the same with any aspect of your game, you always try to improve.”
