Juventus midfielder Emre Can has been accused of sexism as saying ‘we are not women’ following Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card at Valencia.
The Portuguese forward appeared to pull at the hair of Valencia defender Jeison Murillo which produced the red card, a decision which German international Can has criticised.
“Is that supposed to be a red card?” Can told DAZN Sports, in quotes cited by Diario AS.
“I’ve just learned that it was because he pulled Murillo’s hair. We are not women, we are footballers.
“If you’re going to pull out the red card for that then you’ll be doing it for practically every foul. It’s 100 per cent not a red card.”
