‘Valencia a true Champions League team’ – Juventus boss Max Allegri

Juventus boss Max Allegri believes Valencia are ‘a true Champions League team’ who will be looking to go far in this season’s tournament.

The two meet at the Mestalla on Wednesday night in a tough group which also includes Manchester United and Young Boys Bern, with Valencia back in tournament after a two-season absence.

“This will be an incredibly complicated encounter against a strong opponent, who have a passionate home support,” Allegri told reporters on Tuesday.

“Valencia are a true Champions League club, they deserve to be at this level and will be hoping of going far into the competition, they have the strength and ability to do this.

“Our aim, like it is in every game, is to win but we know this will not be easy and in the context of the group, we know a draw will not be a bad result but a defeat could make the situation difficult.

“We are one of the favourites to win the Champions League, maybe with four or five other clubs, but we know the fluidity of this competition and how a favourite can be eliminated at any stage.”
